Our Teaching Artists

The wonderful world of art starts with our outstanding Teaching Artists, many award winning and some nationally recognized in their specialized field. We are an art collective with a community of artists, many running his/her own classes. This allows our teaching artists to grow in their field and continue to work in the art community. Cate Robbins

Drawing & Painting with Cate is an academic art class that equips students with skills and techniques to create all types of drawing and painting and to find their individual expressive style.

Jennifer Burke

Jennifer is an active member of SPARC (St Peters Artist Run Community), serves on the 2018 McKinney Artist’s Studio Tour planning committee, and is an active volunteer potter with McKinney Empty Bowls.Jennifer Burke discovered her passion for clay over ten years ago when she took a pottery class at the Art House.

Jennifer Hale

Jennifer Hale is a life-long learner and insatiable maker. The seed for pottery was planted many years ago in a college pottery class, but she didn’t return to it until taking a class with her daughter at the McKinney Art House. Now she is doubly blessed in having the opportunity to share what she loves with others so they, too, can enjoy creating with clay.

Nidhi Sood

Nidhi taught in public school for many years before following my passion to teach art to children. Her events and classes focus on using one’s imagination and bringing the inner artist out.

Mary Cobine

After over 10 years of studying, both here at the McKinney Art House and with other instructors, Mary wanted to share what she has known and decided it was time to jump into teaching. She teaches weekly classes, private lessons and also hosts fun one time pottery experience classes on Saturdays.

Diya Kalia : Folklorez

Diya Kalia is a passionate ceramic artist and educator with roots in the rich artistic traditions of India.After moving to the United States, Diya continued her mission by founding Folklorez, a dedicated studio now also running pottery classes within McKinney Art House. Through Folklorez@ McKinney Art House, she brings the timeless beauty of Indian craftsmanship into a modern, accessible context.

Katherine Parris

An artist, educator, and founder of “Art with Ms. Parris.” For years, she had the joy of teaching hundreds of students in public schools, creating a classroom culture filled with joy, safety, creativity, and love.From messy masterpieces to thoughtful reflections, every project is rooted in kindness, curiosity, and the belief that every child has a masterpiece inside of them.

Nina Schultz

Nina Schultz is a storyteller whose paintings, mixed-media creations, songs, and stories all reflect a love of imagination and wonder. Come sit a little while, and let us make something magical together.

Melissa Peterson

Melissa most enjoys creating functional pottery on the wheel and continues the lifelong process of growing her skills at this beautiful art form. Now, she is excited to share the art of creating with clay, and her love of the creative process, with the students at the McKinney Art House Pottery Studio.

Estella Patrick

Estella has always had a love for art and using it as a way to help others. She specializes in digital art, drawing and painting. But, most importantly, cares about how learning and sharing art can benefit others.

Alex Macias

Alex presents her refined pottery forms with precision in thrown details, lids, and shapes. Today, Alex runs her ceramics business, All Fired Up, teaches at the McKinney Art House, and sells at the local Farmer’s Market, LAST Art Gallery, and Mila Delfin.
