Diya Kalia - aka folklorez
Potter – Founder of Folklorez
Diya Kalia is a passionate ceramic artist and educator with roots in the rich artistic traditions of India. Originally from India, Diya holds a Master’s degree in Ceramic and Glass Design from the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. Her artistic journey began with a deep commitment to reviving traditional Indian art practices, leading to collaborative projects with the Indian government that focused on preserving and promoting cultural heritage through art and design.
After moving to the United States, Diya continued her mission by founding Folklorez, a dedicated studio now also running pottery classes within McKinney Art House. Through Folklorez@ McKinney Art House, she brings the timeless beauty of Indian craftsmanship into a modern, accessible context. Diya has spent over a decade teaching and creating in various pottery studios and schools across the U.S., and now she brings that wealth of experience to our creative community.
At McKinney Art House, Diya offers:
-
Pottery Classes for all skill levels
-
Pottery Experience Classes perfect for trying something new
-
Creative Workshops blending traditional techniques with personal expression
-

Diya’s studio space, Folklorez, is more than just a classroom—it’s a vibrant, welcoming hub of hands-on creativity inspired by Indian folk art and nature. She also designs traditional Indian art kits, allowing participants to explore cultural crafts from the comfort of their homes.
A true nature lover and dedicated gardener, Diya draws daily inspiration from the natural world. This connection deeply influences her work, infusing her pottery and workshops with a sense of balance, organic beauty, and mindfulness.
Join Diya at McKinney Art House to experience the joy of pottery, discover new traditions, and craft your own story—one piece at a time.
